Sugarloaf by cable car
Two cable-car legs with a stop on Morro da Urca, where kids can run around. Open 8:30 a.m.–9 p.m.
Corcovado train to Christ
The train climbs through the forest to Christ. At the top there are elevators and escalators. Adults R$134, kids 7–11 R$107.
AquaRio
A large marine aquarium in the port district with a shark tunnel. Perfect for rainy or very hot days.
BioParque do Rio
The former city zoo, redesigned, inside Quinta da Boa Vista park. Spacious enclosures and lots of green.
Botanical Garden
Flat, shaded paths, the imperial palm avenue, orchids and sometimes marmosets. Stroller-friendly.
Parque Lage
A mansion with an inner courtyard pool (not for swimming), a café and short trails at the foot of Corcovado.
Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas
Bikes (some with child seats), pedal boats and playgrounds on a flat 7.5 km loop.

Leme
Copacabana’s northern corner by the rocks: more family-oriented and less hectic.
Praia Vermelha (Urca)
Small beach at the foot of Sugarloaf: combine beach time and the cable car.
Barra da Tijuca
Wide sand and lots of space; some stretches have waves, so set up near a lifeguard post.
Búzios (day trip)
Calm, clear-water beaches ideal for kids. Transfer included, no driving.
